Boston Herald: Boston health officials to aid homeless

Boston health officials and police promise a united front to nudge the homeless into safe quarters through the blizzard, while staff at Hub shelters slept at work overnight on cots to ensure enough warm meals and accommodations were prepared to handle the influx.

Boston Public Health Commissioner Huy Nguyen said yesterday the city worked with shelter providers to “make it as easy as possible for our homeless to have safe shelter throughout tonight and throughout the storm.

“This includes providing day shelter and working with homeless outreach vans, public safety and Boston EMS to help any homeless on the street to get into shelters,” Nguyen said, adding that officials will work to ensure that “no homeless individual who is looking for a bed is turned away.”
